Cleanup and translations.

I have finished some translation on previous articles, but have let a few of them untranslated in French, as they were part of an old series of demonstrations for school which are not that interesting as standalone articles.

New public projects!

After leaving my website in hibernation for quite some time, I am now ready to come back and publicize some of my projects as I work on them to keep everyone update on progress and hopefully to get some extra sets of eyes on my source code!

I will be updating the site with the following projects:

  • Echec.ca : Android image sharing application.
  • ChromePG : GnuPG-based encryption plugin for Chrome.
  • Parking Space Hunter : Android crowd sourcing parking space finder.
  • Tower Offense : Android tower offense game concept.
  • Shadowboxing Assistant : Arduino-powered muay thai shadowboxing assisting hardware.

Projects will have their own pages on the site and will be available through SVN for testing and code inspection.

Microsoft and Open Source?

Well, yesterday I've received an invitation through FACIL to go to a Microsoft cocktail presenting their contributions to Open Source and I must say that the various reactions I have observed from this invitation varied greatly. While many kept an open and curious mind about it, some colleagues from the world of Free Software took a very defensive approach and refused to have anything to do with Microsoft. I decided to go have a look, as I admit to being curious as to what they would show, and I am easy to lure with the promise of free alcohol.

Update and roadmap

Well, I've just redone my site and added a few new interesting tweaks and sections. The new Drupal features interesting translation features which I will test out to provide bilingual content. So far so good, although I'm having a bit of trouble working out the view paths to work nicely in French. I will be mostly updating the site in English however, but will do my best to translate articles as fast as possible!

New site online

Well, the site is now publicly online, and upgraded to Drupal 6! I'll start off by adding old articles I've made last semester for some of my classes, dealing with software engineering and some other tutorials. Most of those were written in French, so they'll need to be translated first, therefore they will be slowly trickling in the English version. keep in mind that those articles have been made in a University context, therefore it might refer to students, demonstrations and other projects.
